Chapter 1 & 2
The first chapter focuses on how covering and viewing news has drastically changed due to the use of technology. How media is covered, the devices people choose to use to view the news, and how people pay for the news is constantly changing. News is something that is produced by everyone and not just the journalist. The second chapter focuses on the basic foundation of how a news story is properly written to attract readers attention. A news story normally gives the results first to lure the reader in, and it contains visuals and intriguing leads to persuade the viewer to finish reading the whole article.
The way news is produced and distributed is based on the technology and media platform that it is being released on. If something is going out in print media, then it will use different techniques to catch the reader's eye compared to something going out online. It is interesting to understand how different news writing and normal writing is. If you were to read a book, you would not know the end result until the last chapter of the book, but in news writing, the result is the first thing you read. Releasing news online is a faster way to inform viewers. Before technology was really accessible to everyone, how long was the turnaround rate for news to get out to potential viewers? What techniques did journalists use to continuously post updates without the use of the internet?
