The main focus is on the different types of social media and how news is published on each platform. It is the shift from people only being receivers of the media to the readers becoming contributors. Because of social media, there are so many sources; however, it can be difficult to verify how accurate those sources are. Reporting through the media is different than reporting on a traditional newspaper. There are specific techniques to use when publishing something through multimedia. People view articles differently when using different devices. Chapter 12 continues the discussion on how to write for web media and the different ways to make your article interactive and viewed on the web.

All of the chapters relate to each other by discussing the different ways media has reshaped the news industry. Journalist write differently depending on where they are publishing there news. Just because a website or article looks good on a computer, does not mean it will look the same when someone is viewing it on their phone. It is important to know your audience and make your media easy to view on any device. Online media has had better success because it is more accessible and interactive for viewers. More and more people are spending majority of their time online. Attention spans have decreased because of the active use of technology so headlines and blurs are one of the most important pieces when it comes to attracting a readers attention.

Other than the format, do journalist also normally change there style of writing when its being published on the media compared to newspapers?
